John Flaherty – Tony C’s Sports Bar & Grill
My Signature Drink
It’s the perfect cocktail and I pour it pretty often. It’s strong enough for a guy but tasty enough for a woman.
Buffalo Trace, thyme, lemon, Angostura Bitters; garnish with cherry and orange slice
Favorite menu item:
My personal favorite are the Philly Cheese Steak Wontons- those things are solid. They have the perfect amount of shaved steak and creamy cheese and there’s a spicy kick in the Tony C’s secret dipping sauce.
Best Bartender story:
One time on a week night two guys came into Tony C’s and asked to try each of the 40 beers we have on tap. I started off pouring them half glasses and mid-way through my pours were down to just a finger or two. It’s safe to say they didn’t make it to all 40 and ended up with two #25 burgers in a booth instead – but we appreciated their enthusiasm!
Favorite night/event at Tony C’s:
Until football “Sunday Fundays” start up again, Saturday nights are my favorite shift to work. The energy from the staff even before the bar gets packed makes me excited to be at work – the bar staff here is the best I’ve ever worked with. It doesn’t hurt when the bar gets crowded with girls either, whether they’re coming in post-shopping at the Assembly Row stores, or they’re out on “girl’s night” – Saturday nights at Tony C’s are primetime for this, not going to lie. It also gets pretty intense with the guys when there’s a big game on. By 1am when we close for the night, I feel like I ran a marathon.
