I can't make Mondays suck any less but I can tell you what doesn't suck…
It’s the last Monday of the summer before fall officially begins on Wednesday, September 23rd, and we won’t see summer again for another 30 months after being buried under 12 feet of snow. So soak it all in now before it’s too late!
Also, the much anticipated movie “Black Mass” about Boston’s most notorious crime boss, Whitey Bulger, opened in theaters this past Friday after a star-studded, red carpet premiere at Coolidge Corner, Brookline on Tuesday night. The film depicts the all to familiar story for anyone born and raised in Boston about the Winter Hill gang leader James “Whitey” Bulger, which my father has been told numerous times that he looks like him we’re still trying to figure out if that is an insult or not. Apparently, the film has been met with some criticisms like most films usually are, but regardless to any criticisms is said anything is better than learning who Tom Brady supports for president…
Moving on to what is important this week, which of course means what comedy show should you go see. This week’s show is brought to you by The Court Stenographers of Comedy which you should also “Like” on Facebook.
Now I can’t really speak for the groups ability or level of skill using shorthand type, but I can say they have a real talent for putting on great comedy shows.
This Wednesday for only $5 dollars starting at 9:15pm at the Milky Lounge in Jamaica Plain you get to experience comedy from local favorites AND the hilarious Lillian DeVane headlines. This is really a steal for only $5 dollars, so everyone Shhh! so they don’t figure it out and raise the price.
The Court Stenographers of Comedy was created by 4 local comedians, Adam Abelson, Sam Ike, James Huessy, and Owen Linders, who definitely know how to have a good time and there is no way you could leave one of their shows without having had a great time. Side note, if anyone out there is thinking, “not really sure about a comedy show because I need help with my fantasy football line up” well you just hit the jackpot because Sam Ike could be that help if you go to Wednesday nights show. I can’t guarantee anything other than a funny show but if that’s an incentive you need to see great comedy, well you may be border lining an unhealthy relationship with fantasy football…again I digress.
My point is that Wednesday night at the Milky Way Lounge in Jamaica Plain is the place to be that night. Do you really want to be that guy who doesn’t go? No, didn’t think so everyone is scared of FOMO (fear of missing out) like the cool hip kids say these days.
